The bookies were counting the cost after the horse trained by C P Mortlock won the 2.50 at Fontwell Park just as punters entered Ladbrokes branches up and down the country and logged on to place their bets on the game with several investing their stake for the showcase event in the runner who returned a 13/2 winner.
