Taarabt’s goals to decide QPR’s Championship fate

If QPR can get Adel Taarabt to start scoring away from home, then they could significantly enhance their chances further of winning the Championship this season.

Taarabt was on the scoresheet at Loftus Road again as QPR retained their five-point cushion at the head of the Championship with a 2-0 home victory over Portsmouth.

This victory also maintained QPR’s position as the 5/6 favourites to win the title in the Championship betting market as they claimed their tenth home win of the campaign.

The form of attacking midfielder Taarabt has had a large influence on this form as he has now scored ten goals in his last nine games at Loftus Road.

However, he has failed to come close to matching this on his travels as he has not found the target in an away game for QPR since October 2nd.

Meanwhile, this has affected QPR’s results on the road as they have been toothless in attack as a team in all of their last four away games, with three of these fixtures being in the league.

If Taarabt can pitch in with the odd away goal, it would not only support QPR’s title-winning aspirations, but also enhance his own prospects of finishing the season as the Championship’s top scorer.

The 21-year-old is 6/1 in the Championship top-scorer betting market and his current tally of 14 leaves him one adrift of Watford’s Danny Graham and Jay Bothroyd of Cardiff.

Taarabt has an immediate chance to break his scoring troubles in away games in QPR’s next Championship outing, which is at Reading.

QPR’s betting odds are 15/8 to beat Reading, with the hosts 7/5 to take the three points and the draw priced at 23/10.

A £25 stake on Taarabt being the top scorer in the Championship this season would return £150. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
