Rooney renaissance to lead Man Utd to Premier League title

Manchester United were already in a dominant position in the Premier League standings with Wayne Rooney woefully out of form, so now he is showing signs of a recovery there is every chance that the Red Devils are certainties to be crowned champions.

Rooney struck a double, the first inside 50 seconds, as Manchester United’s betting odds to win the Premier League tumbled to 8/13 following their 3-1 success over Aston Villa.

This result not only maintained Manchester United’s unbeaten record in the Premier League this season, but also extended their envious record at Old Trafford where they have won 12 of their 13 games.

However, despite these runs continuing, it will be the return to scoring form of Rooney that will be the most pleasing, as before Villa’s trip to Old Trafford he had scored just three league goals all season and two of these were from the penalty spot.

Rooney said: “I am delighted to have scored and hopefully I can go on a run now and help the team to win games.”

The England striker added that it would be foolish to get carried away in title thoughts this early in the season and still sees Chelsea as a massive threat, even though they are ten points off top spot at present.

Chelsea beat Sunderland to make it three Premier League wins in a row and are now 6/1 to win the title.

Meanwhile, it is Arsenal that continue to remain the nearest pursuers to Manchester United and are still within five points of the summit after coming from behind to beat Everton.

Arsenal are 5/2 in the Premier League betting odds to win the title and they are also on a run of three straight league wins.

A £25 stake on Manchester City winning the Premier League would return £350. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
