Roethlisberger bidding to become one of the Super Bowl elite

Published:

He may be the rogue of the NFL but Ben Roethlisberger has led the Pittsburgh Steelers to three Super Bowls in six years, and the quarterback is determined to win his third Super Bowl ring.

Roethlisberger has become the scourge of NFL fans following two sexual assault allegations in 2009 and 2010, and readers of the Hollywood Reporter recently voted Roethlisberger the most hated player in the NFL.

But while Roethlisberger’s appearance in the Super Bowl will mean every neutral in the country will be backing the Green Bay Packers to win, the Steelers are a very tempting bet at 13/10 on the money line betting.

The match-up between Roethlisberger and Packers quarterback Aaron Rogers will be one of the highlights of the Super Bowl, and the two go head-to-head in a number of betting markets.

Roethlisberger’s 61.7 passing completion percentage in the regular season was the worst of his career and because of that Rogers is the 8/13 favourite in the race to 100 yards betting market.

Rogers is also the 8/15 favourite in the race to 200 yards with Roethlisberger available at 11/8, and considering Rogers passing completion rate has never dropped below 63 percent in his three seasons as a Packer, his consistency makes him the best bet

Roethlisberger may boast more Super Bowl jewellery than Rogers, but the Packers quarterback could become one of the all-time greats in the NFL, and it’s because of his consistent performances that the Packers are the favourites for Super Bowl XLV.

But Roethlisberger has been there and done it twice before and the Steelers experience against a young Packers side hands the edge to the Pittsburgh.

With over 100 million people watching on Saturday, the pressure on both teams will be immense and having been there before, the Steelers are the better placed to cope with it.

A £25 stake on the Steelers winning Super Bowl XLV would return £57.50. New customers can sign up here for a free Super Bowl bet worth £25.
