Money for Allardyce taking over as West Brom manager

Sam Allardyce appears to be the leading fancy of punters to replace Roberto Di Matteo as the manager of West Brom after receiving heavy support in this betting market.

Allardyce, who was seemingly harshly sacked by Blackburn in December, was initially quoted at 10/1 to help West Brom avoid relegation this season.

However, he has now been backed into 5/2 as it is believed that he ticks all of the right boxes when it comes to getting the best out of players involved in a relegation fight.

Allardyce has the experience and know-how of such situations from his time at Bolton and it is widely expected that the club could make the appointment on a short-term basis until the end of the season.

But question marks still need to be answered as to whether Allardyce actually wants the job and whether he would be able to work within the club’s current structure.

West Brom may be reluctant to change their current backroom structure and Allardyce is likely to be keen to bring with him his own staff to work alongside.

Premier League betting odds have West Brom at 13/8 to be relegated and just four points from their last nine games is form that quickly needs to be turned around if they are to survive, as they are now only outside of the bottom three on goal difference.

Former Newcastle boss Chris Hughton remains the favourite to take over at West Brom, but the support for Allardyce has seen his price drift slightly from 5/4 to 6/4.

The interesting bet remains Michael Appleton at 7/1, as the club have announced they are in no rush to make an appointment and he will initially replace Di Matteo on a temporary basis.

A £25 stake on Roy Hodgson being appointed the next West Brom manager would return £250. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
