Man City relying on Silva to ensure derby bragging rights

Carlos Tevez believes that David Silva is Manchester City’s most significant player and will need to perform to his best if the club are to secure victory in the Manchester derby.

Manchester City’s betting odds are 10/3 to beat Manchester United at Old Trafford and end a run of five defeats in seven games against their neighbours.

Tevez himself will need to continue his fine start to the season if Roberto Mancini’s are to gain a result at Old Trafford, but the Argentine feels that the display of summer recruit Silva could be even more pivotal.

Tevez said: “David Silva is the best signing we have made. He is the type of player who can win you the game.

“He can provide you with the sort of pass that puts you through one and one with the goalkeeper. He has freshened up the team and brought a new dimension to it.”

Silva may have only scored one Premier League goal in 24 appearances this season since signing from Valencia, but he is the club’s leader when it comes to assists, as he has set up six goals.

And Manchester City will be happy to settle for more of the same if he continues to provide the killer passes for Tevez, who has 18 Premier League goals to his name this season.

Manchester United are 8/11 to beat Manchester City in the Premier League odds and will not need too much picking up following their recent defeat at Wolves.

However, victory will also be high on the agenda for Mancini, as not only will it give bragging rights to the club’s fans, but also reduce their deficit to Manchester United at the top of the table to just two points.
