Inter beat English clubs to the signing of new Kaka

Inter Milan seem to have won the race to secure the signature of one of the world’s hottest young talents by agreeing a deal with Santos for Paulo Henrique Ganso.

Dubbed the new Kaka in some quarters, Ganso and striker Neymar have attracted attention across Europe this season thanks to their starring roles at Santos.

Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United have been among the English clubs linked with the duo, but Serie A is now almost certain to be the next destination for Ganso, rather than a move to the Premier League.

A chat with Inter manager Leonardo seems to have paid dividends and the move should be completed at some point in the summer, after the conclusion of the Copa Libertadores, which is scheduled to play its final towards the end of June.

Ganso said: “It is true that I have spoken to Inter manager Leonardo, who wants me for his team. I am very clear. I want to win the Copa Libertadores with Santos and then be sold to Italy.

“Soon I will make the big leap to Europe. I have many friends who play in Serie A and they all advise me to go there because the style of football would suit me.”

The power possessed by Ganso’s left foot is one of his biggest attributes, although his vision, passing and pace of dribbling are other strengths that have resulted in his comparison with Real Madrid’s Kaka.

Ganso’s arrival at the San Siro would provide some added flair to an Inter team that already includes Wesley Sneijder, Samuel Eto’o and Goran Pandev, alongside another highly-touted Brazilian youngster in Philippe Coutinho.

Despite this abundance of attacking flair, Inter are still five points off top spot in the Serie A standings.

They are at home to Cagliari next as they look to reduce this gap and are 2/5 in the Serie A betting to take maximum points.
