India vs England – Difficult to see past India win

Published:

India’s betting odds are 4/9 to beat England at the Cricket World Cup and this seems like amazing value given the results of their last two one-day home series’ against England.

Match Odds

England have not enjoyed the greatest time in their last two visits to India, losing their one-day series in 2006 5-1 and then managing to suffer a whitewash 5-0 loss in 2008.

Furthermore, despite winning their last three matches, England will need to improve vastly from their opening Group B victory over Holland if they are to have any chance of beating India.

India have managed to score over 350 runs in two of their last three games and will have no trouble amassing a similar total against England if Andrew Strauss’ team replicate the fielding mistakes they made against Holland.

England’s betting odds are 7/4 to beat India and much will largely depend on both how well their batsmen play spin and how deadly Graeme Swann is at taking wickets with the ball.

Sehwag vs Pietersen

Virender Sehwag and Kevin Pietersen both have important roles to play for their teams as the responsibility largely falls on their shoulders to ensure a good tempo is quickly discovered.

Sehwag was mightily aggressive in scoring 175 in India’s opening game with Bangladesh and is 11/8 to register a 50.

Pietersen has been promoted from the middle order to opener to be given more free rein and he is 3/2 to show all of his flamboyance and score at least 50.

Alternatively, Sehwag can be backed at 5/6 to score a minimum of 35 runs in his innings, while Pietersen is the same price to reach 32 runs for England.

A £25 stake on India’s Sachin Tendulkar being named man of the match against England would return £250. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
