Green Bay Packer backers ready to celebrate

GREEN BAY PACKERS are the well-backed 2/3 favourites with Ladbrokes for the Superbowl.

The game appears to be a close one, however, as the Steelers can be backed at 27/20 on the money line or at 5/6 with a three-point start on the spread.

Aaron Rodgers is the hot favourite for the MVP at 6/4 with Clay Matthews a player to watch at a bigger price (28/1). The Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is the 9/4 second favourite for the award.

Some of the more popular specials include Troy Polamalu to make an interception at 2/1 and Hines Ward to have at least 57 yards receiving at 3/1. It’s 1/1 that either quarterback passes for more than 300 yards and 8/11 neither of them do.

The event looks set to smash all previous turnover records as several million will be staked by UK-based customers alone, triggered by the Monday night games boosting interest throughout the regular season.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “Irrespective of the result we are celebrating as it has been our biggest and best year for NFL betting to date with the Monday night games being instrumental in stimulating interest.

“We are up to our necks in money for Green Bay so will be cheering on the Steelers on the night and Rodgers looks like a standout candidate for the the MVP but in a tight game there are plenty of other players sure to have a say in the matter.”
