Game-raising Roma to halt Inter Milan’s climb up the table

There are three Serie A games live on ESPN on Sunday, with the final match of the hat-trick between last season’s top two Inter Milan and Roma the pick of the bunch…

Bologna v Catania (11.30pm)

The relative success of Bologna is one of the stories of the season in Serie A, as boss Alberto Malesani consistently delivers results amidst a backdrop of boardroom uncertainty and severe financial problems that have led to a three-point penalty.

The Rossublu have won four of their last six at home and their only defeats in their last 12 games have come against the top three. Catania are winless in seven, including their first three matches under Diego Simeone, so the hosts have to be fancied at 11/10. A Marco Di Vaio/2-0 Bologna scorecast provides odds of 22/1.

Genoa v AC Milan (2pm)

The controversial decision to sack Gian Piero Gasperini, the coach that took them from Serie B to Champions League contention, in November hasn’t worked out too well for Genoa, who have won just once in eight games and failed to score in five of those encounters.

An AC Milan side victorious in four of their last five away games and unbeaten on the road domestically since matchday two therefore have nothing to fear, rendering the table-topping Rossoneri an attractive bet at 1/1, while they also appeal at 2/1 to triumph to nil.

Inter Milan v Roma (7.45pm)

With doubts surrounding Napoli’s ability to last the cause, frequent title rivals Inter and Roma are arguably AC Milan’s fiercest challengers so this clash will have a big impact on the race for the scudetto.

On recent form, Inter Milan are worthy favourites at 10/11 after six wins in seven, however Roma have taken 12 points from 15 against top-six clubs and haven’t lost in four Serie A meetings with the team that finished two points ahead of them last term. The draw at 11/5 and 1-1 at 5/1 therefore tempt.

This will also be Giampaolo Pazzini’s first collision with Roma as an Inter striker. He has scored three in two appearances for his new side and grabbed two for Sampdoria against the Giallorossi in Rome last April to ultimately cost them the title. He is 5/1 to grab the opener.

A £25 stake on Pazzini breaking the deadlock would provide a £125 profit. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
