Djokovic and Federer should cruise into third round in Dubai

Roger Federer continues to hold off Novak Djokovic at the top of the Dubai Duty Free betting market, and both players should have no problem progressing through their second round matches.

Djokovic, 11/8 to win this week, faces Feliciano Lopez today and while the Spaniard has enjoyed consistent success over the course of his 13-year career, he’s never provided much resistance when facing Djokovic.

Twice the two players have met and on both occasions Djokovic has won in straight sets and unsurprisingly the Australian Open champion is 1/16 to beat Lopez today.

But punters looking for a little better value can back Djokovic at 1/5 to win the match in straight sets and 1/6 to win the first set and the match.

Tomas Berdych vs Nikolay Davydenko

It’s the tightest betting market and the most intriguing tie in the second round of the Dubai Duty Free betting market, and both Berdych and Davydenko are 5/6 to win when they face off at 11.15am.

While Davydenko has declined down the ATP rankings dramatically, the Russian holds a 9-1 head-to-head record over Berdych and won their most recent encounter in Paris last November.

It promises to be a tight encounter and backing both players to win 2-1 at 11/4 would prove profitable, but after coming back from a set down in Paris, Davydenko is the pick of the market at 11/2 to lose the first set and win the match.

Roger Federer vs Marcel Granollers

Granollers win over Dimitry Tursunov in the first round was his only win this year and it’s difficult to see the Spanish 24-year-old causing any problems to the world number two.

Federer is 1/66 to win on Wednesday afternoon and 1/12 to win the match in straight sets.

A £25 stake on Davydenko coming from a set down to beat Berdych would return £162.50. New customers can sign up here for a free bet worth £25.
