Chelsea’s season is still a long way from being over

John Terry insists that Chelsea’s season is still far from over as they sit firmly in the driving seat to reach the quarter finals of the Champions League.

Domestically it has not been a great season for Chelsea, as they are out of both the FA Cup and Carling Cup, while have a mountain to climb if they still harbour hopes of topping the Premier League.

Chelsea’s betting odds are 16/1 to win the Premier League and they have 12 points to make up on Manchester United with just 12 fixtures remaining.

Although the chances of any domestic silverware are virtually extinct for this season, Chelsea’s European adventure still seems to have plenty of mileage in the tank.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team overcame a potential banana skin when claiming a 2-0 win in Copenhagen and will be confident that they can complete the job in the second leg on their own patch.

Chelsea have only lost one of their last 26 home games in the Champions League and not by two goals since being beaten 2-0 by Besiktas at Stamford Bridge in 2003.

The victory has seen Chelsea’s Champions League betting odds remain at 11/2 to win the tournament for the first time in their history.

And Terry knows that heads should not be dropping in the Chelsea dressing room as there is still plenty to play for.

He told Sky Sports News: “It is a good lift, winning does that and you can see the buzz in the dressing room.

“It is important we continue this run, this could be the start of it. The manager said we are not dead yet and there are a number of games to be played.”
