Bet on Tevez to overtake Berbatov and win Golden Boot

Despite Dimitar Berbatov finally pulling his weight at Manchester United this season, it seems as though he is likely to lose out to Carlos Tevez in the race to win the Golden Boot and the Premier League betting agrees with this.

Tevez’ recent hat-trick in Manchester City’s victory over West Brom took his tally for the season to 18, which means he is now just one shy of Berbatov.

In reality it is now a two-horse race to decide who will be the Premier League’s top scorer this season and there are numerous reasons as to why Tevez may be the better bet at 10/11.

Firstly, he is undoubtedly Manchester City’s best and most influential player and therefore will not only start every fixture when he is fit, but will probably play the full 90 minutes in each.

This is in contrast to Berbatov, who will be rotated with the likes of Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez at Manchester United and will definitely spend more time on the bench.

However, Sir Alex Ferguson may have difficulty leaving him out if he continues to score and Berbatov is 1/1 to win the Golden Boot in May.

The one question mark over Tevez is whether he will continue to be selected as the lone striker as he has been for much of the season.

Edin Dzeko’s arrival from Wolfsburg has left Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini with a bit of a dilemma and it could result in Tevez being shifted to a deeper playmaker role or a position on the left of a three-pronged attack.

Meanwhile, Manchester City also have an easier run-in than their neighbours over the remainder of the season, which may enhance the chances of Tevez more regularly finding the target.

With Manchester United still having to face Chelsea twice, while also travelling to Anfield and the Emirates, Berbatov may see his playing time limited.

A £25 stake on Robin Van Persie, who currently has ten Premier League goals, winning the Golden Boot would return £625. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
