A “miracle” if Tottenham finish in the top four again

Tottenham’s betting odds may be 10/11 to finish in the top four of the Premier League for the second season in succession, but manager Harry Redknapp believes that it would be a “miracle” to achieve this feat again.

With five teams deemed as serious contenders for the four Champions League places, one obviously has to miss out and based on the current standings this will be Chelsea.

Spurs sit fourth at present, two points ahead of Chelsea and with a game in hand on third-placed Manchester City.

However, Redknapp still rates his team as the underdogs of the five clubs, largely because of the big financial differences between his team and some of the other contenders.

He told The Sun: “It would be a miracle if we finished in the top four again. Have a look at the Manchester City and Chelsea squads, have a look at the wages they pay out. Why should we finish above them?

“People get carried away thinking Tottenham should be in the Champions League every year. Until this season we’d never done it before, then suddenly we make it and there’s an air of ‘Oh, well, we should do it again’.”

This game in hand is away at relegation-threatened Blackpool, with Tottenham 8/11 in the Premier League betting to take the three points that would see them climb above Manchester City in the table.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have every chance of securing victory in all of their remaining five home games this season and doing so would make them tough to overhaul in the race to finish in the top four.

Four of the five games at White Hart Lane are against teams battling relegation in the shape of West Ham, West Brom, Blackpool and Birmingham, while Stoke are the other visitors.

A £25 stake on Liverpool finishing in the top four would return £150. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
