Australia’s Watson to star with bat again against England

Published:

Shane Watson’s dominant form with the bat should ensure that Australia wrap up a victory early in their one-day series with England.

Match Odds

England gave themselves a lifeline in the seven-match series when their victory in Adelaide reduced their arrears to 3-1, but any celebrations are likely to be short lived in Brisbane.

Australia’s betting odds are 10/11 to triumph in the fifth one-day international and this is particularly a great price if captain Michael Clarke wins the toss and opts to bat first.

Batting second at Brisbane under the floodlights is known to be a tricky proposition and the team in the middle first stand to have a significant advantage.

After winning the Test series and the World Cup looming, England will be keen to build on their Adelaide victory and are also 10/11 to beat Australia.

To Score 50

Aussie opener Watson has proved a thorn in England’s side so far in the series, thanks to his 239 runs in four innings.

Watson has also scored back-to-back 50s in his last two matches and this makes him great value at 13/8 to reach the half century milestone again.

Furthermore, if Watson scores well and fellow opener Brad Haddin comes out to bat with an aggressive frame of mind, Australia are worth backing at 4/5 to be on the highest score after 15 overs.

Cameron White has been consistent in the series so far without managing to convert his scores into a 50.

If Australia lose early wickets, he could come in to steady the ship and at 3/1 is a leading contender to reach 50.

For England, Matt Prior was finally in the runs at Adelaide and is 9/4 to register a 50.

A £25 stake on England recovering to win the one-day series 4-3 would return £125. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
