Promotion contenders collide as rivalry reignites the betting

It’s sure to be one of the hottest betting markets in League Two on Saturday as the fans of Crewe Alexandra and Port Vale look to their teams to win the bragging rights over one another.

Elsewhere Wycombe Wanderers will want to continue applying the pressure to the league leaders and they face a trip to relegation threatened Lincoln City.

Crewe Alexandra vs Port Vale

The last time Port Vale completed the league double over Crewe, they were promoted from the fourth division and having beaten Crewe earlier in the season, punters may want to think about backing Port Vale to win the title at 6/1.

That double was way back in the 1986/87 season and Crewe are the form team heading into this tie and punters should take as much of the 6/5 for Crewe to win as they can.

Port Vale fans will be hoping that Jim Gannon’s first league game in charge can inspire them to victory at 23/10, but Gannon has a tough job on his hands restoring confidence to his side and Crewe can reverse the earlier 2-1 defeat – a 2-1 win for Crewe is priced at 7/1.

Lincoln City vs Wycombe Wanderers

On paper this should be a no-brainer and Wycombe offer punters the value of the weekend in League Two at 5/4 to win.

Lincoln haven’t picked up a win in their last five matches and have conceded 15 goals in that time.

Wycombe come into the game on the back of two defeats having suffered a surprise loss to Hereford in the FA Cup, but the Chairboys can bounce straight back and win 3-0 which has league two betting odds of 20/1.

Gareth Ainsworth has been in fine scoring form for Wycombe recently and the midfielder is a big price at 12/1 in the first goalscorer betting market.

A £25 stake on Crewe and Wycombe winning would return £123.75. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
