Murray the underdog in Australian Open final

ANDY MURRAY is the 11/10 outsider to beat Novak Djokovic in the final of the Australian Open, according to Ladbrokes.

The Scot completed a four-set semi-final victory to set up another Grand Slam final in Melbourne – and the bookies are dreading the prospect of their first major patriotic payout in tennis for decades.

David Williams of Ladbrokes said: “Murray is nearly always a shocking result for the bookies. He now has a following to rival Henman in his heyday and we’ll make no apologies for cheering on Djokovic.”

Ladbrokes offered a standout 8/1 about Murray winning the tournament earlier this month and another top-price 9/1 about the Serbian, who is now the 4/6 favourite to triumph Down Under.

“With Federer and Nadal out of the way we fancied our chances of grabbing the cash, but we’re out of the frying pan and into the fire with Murray and Djokovic set to slog it out,” added Williams.
