Munster out as Toulouse tighten grip on Heineken Cup

| 15.01.2011

MUNSTER’S first group stage exit from the Heineken Cup in over a decade has seen Ladbrokes react by cutting the odds on Toulouse winning another Heineken Cup.

Toulouse are the 5/2 favourites to lift the European prize having secured crucial home advantage courtesy of Wasps’ defeat at the hands of Glasgow.

Northampton are the clear 4/1 second favourites for the Heineken Cup after maintaning their unbeaten record with a facile win over Edinburgh.

David Williams of Ladbrokes said: “Munster aren’t the force of old but few predicted their humiliating group stage exit. It all seems to be falling into place for Tolouse with a week to spare.”

Jonny Wilkinson’s 22 points for Toulon helped seal Munster’s fate and the ex-international’s French side are 8/1 to lift the cup.

Ladbrokes: Heineken Cup winner
5/2 Toulouse
4/1 Northampton
9/2 Leinster
7/1 Leicester
8/1 Toulon
8/1 Perpignan
10/1 Biarritz
20/1 Ulster
