Higgins enters the Ladbrokes Mobile Masters on the back of a turbulent season in 2010 which saw the Scot receive a six-month ban for bringing the game of snooker into disrepute.
The six-month ban meant Higgins’ 2010 season was decimated, but the current world number one won two of the seven tournaments he featured in which is why he is the short-priced 4/9 favourite to beat Dott this evening.
However Higgins has a poor record at the Wembley arena in which the Masters is staged, and the Wizard of Wishaw has crashed out of the tournament nine times in the first round, including three losses in the last four years.

Higgins and Dott have met 10 times and Higgins just shades the head-to-head record with six wins to Dott’s four, but Dott made the 2010 World Championship final in 2010 and has rediscovered his form since suffering from depression.
