Mancini agrees fee to bring Dzeko to Manchester City

Manchester City seem on the cusp of signing Edin Dzeko after manager Roberto Mancini confirmed that a fee has been agreed with Bundesliga club Wolfsburg for the Bosnian striker.

Premier League betting odds still have Manchester City as 6/1 to win the title despite the fact they are currently joint top of the table.

One of the main concerns sent in their direction is that they may be over reliant on Carlos Tevez to score goals and they could run into trouble if he was forced to miss a couple of games.

However, Dzeko certainly has the capability of filling Tevez’ scoring boots as he has already found the target ten times in the Bundesliga this campaign in a team that has struggled to live up to the hype of pre-season contenders.

With Manchester City not having won any silverware since lifting the League Cup in 1976, the fans are desperate for this to change and the arrival of Dzeko could be the final piece of the missing jigsaw.

Mancini said: “We’ve agreed a fee. He’s a good player and all the teams in Europe want him.”

Current Wolfsburg boss Steve McLaren has also spoken highly of Dzeko’s attributes, praising his ability to score all types of goals and the quality of the partnership he is likely to build with Tevez.

Although the deal is virtually complete, Mancini added that any information will not be disclosed until Manchester City have played their next Premier League game away at fellow title challengers Arsenal.

Manchester City have been in great form since Christmas with three straight victories, but they are 10/3 to win at the Emirates as they have not won an away game against Arsenal since 1975.

A £10 bet on the scorecast of Manchester City beating Arsenal 1-0 and Tevez scoring the only goal could see a return of £330. New Ladbrokes customers can sign up here for a free £10 bet.
