Lewis vs Van der Voort – Dutchman to continue charge for title

When the clock chimes 3.30pm on New Years Day, Vincent Van der Voort and Adrian Lewis will take to the oche in the quarter-finals of the PDC World Darts Championship.

While Lewis is a very short favourite, 1/4 to beat Van der Voort, the Dutchman will be high in confidence after dumping out the pre-tournament second favourite Simon Whitlock on Thursday night.

The 35-year-old from Purmerned, Holland, has met his counter-part on twenty occasions and the two know each others games well.

While Lewis leads the head-to-head count by 14 wins to six, Van der Voort’s confidence should not be underestimated and the man known as the ‘Fastest Player in Darts’ is a big price at 11/4 to beat Lewis.

Van der Voort will have to be on top of his game against the world number seven who has dropped just two sets on his way to the quarter-final, but we have already seen some high profile casualties in the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship and this could be the next.

The best of nine sets could go either way, it could either be a whitewash for Lewis – a 5-0 win for the Englishman is priced at 7/1 – or Van der Voort could sneak it 5/4, priced at 8/1.
