Bet on Kim Clijsters vs Vera Zvonareva – Get ready for a thriller

It’s a mirror of the men’s semi-final between Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in terms of seeding, and the women’s semi-final between Kim Clijsters and Vera Zvonareva will prove to be just as thrilling.

Zvonareva was many peoples, including ours, dark horse to win the Australian Open at the start of the tournament when she was available at 12/1, but the Russian will have to negotiate the dominant player in women’s tennis to progress to the final.

Clijsters, the 5/4 favourite in the Australian Open winners betting, is 8/15 to defeat Zvonareva and Clijsters has made the final of every tournament she has played in since the 2010 US Open.

Only Na Li, playing Caroline Wozniacki in the other semi-final which you can read about here, has beaten Clijsters since her US Open win, and it seems Zvonareva has her work cut out to reach the final.

However Zvonareva did win the most recent meeting between the two in Doha last October, and the world number two certainly has the game to upset Clijsters and is available at 11/8 to win.

Five of the nine ties between the two have gone the distance and the crowd that fill the Rod Laver arena are set to witness a classic, and Zvonareva, who has emerged victorious twice from the three-set thrillers, is 10/3 to win 2-1.

But Clijsters has dominated the Australian Open betting from day one and having reached the final without dropping a set, the world number three seems the better value at 3/1 to win 2-1.

Only twice has Clijsters lost the first set to Zvonareva and Clijsters is 8/13 to win the first set and better value at 10/11 to win the first set and win the match.

Whoever goes on to win this match will start the Australian Open final as favourite in the betting.

A £25 stake on Clijsters winning the Australian Open would return £56.25. New customers can sign up here for a free bet worth £25.
