Ipswich are 12/1 in the betting to beat Chelsea after Keane axe
Published:Roy Keane has been sacked as manager of Ipswich Town following a dreadful run of form that has seen them slump to 19th in the Championship.
The former-Manchester United captain had been in charge at Portman Road for 20 months since taking over from Jim Magilton in April 2009. The news comes ahead of Town’s FA Cup third round visit to Stamford Bridge this Sunday – a game they are massive 12/1 outsiders to win.
The writing appeared to be on the wall for Keane following their 1-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest last weekend. That was Ipswich’s seventh defeat in nine games and leaves the Tractor Boys just three points off the Championship drop zone.
Speaking after that defeat, Keane said: “I’m doing my best and if my best isn’t good enough, then I’ll take the consequences.”
Unfortunately for the former-Sunderland manager, he was forced to take those consequences in the past 24 hours after being given the boot by the Ipswich Town board.

Former Bradford, Sheffield Wednesday, Wigan and Derby manager Paul Jewell is thought to be one of the early contenders to take over the vacant manager’s position.
