Fabiano can boost Juventus’ Serie A title prospects

If Juventus seriously want Luis Fabiano to spearhead their assault on the Serie A title this season then it is likely to cost them €12m to secure his services from Sevilla.

Juventus are fifth in the standings at present and with the current depth of their squad they could be good value in the Serie A betting at 10/1 to make up the seven-point deficit on AC Milan.

However, their one weak link is in attack, particularly as top scorer Fabio Quagliarella has been ruled out for the season.

Young striker Niccolo Giannetti was called upon for the recent win over Bari, such was the extent of Juventus’ injury troubles, and they could do with a proven goalscorer to keep their title aspirations on track.

Fabiano has long been linked with a move away from Sevilla, with AC Milan previously having a bid turned down and Tottenham and Brazilian club Corinthians supposedly interested.

However, a club the size of Juventus may be the most desirable for Fabiano, although his transfer fee could prove a stumbling block.

Fabiano’s agent Jose Fuentes told Sky Sport Italia: “It’s true that Juventus are tracking him.

“He has recently extended his contract and the buy-out clause is €20m, but speaking on a personal level, Luis Fabiano is available to leave Spain for €12m.”

Fabiano was prolific for Sevilla in La Liga last season with 15 goals in 23 appearances, while he has five goals during the current campaign.

Juventus will need a big performance if they want to take maximum points from their next Serie A game away at Sampdoria, who rarely lose at home, while they should have a much easier time in the game that follows against Udinese.
