England end drought but Australia still odds-on for series win

Before the start of this ODI series between England and Australia, England were the 4/1 co-favourites with Australia and India to win the 2011 Cricket World Cup, but following the abysmal start to this ODI tour, England have seen their cricket odds drift.
But the recent win in the fourth ODI has ended any hopes the Australian’s had of a potential whitewash, and Andy Flower will hope that his side can take confidence from the victory into the fifth ODI which England are 10/11 to win.
With three games left in the series, a series win for England seems unlikely and they are priced at 5/1 to complete a remarkable series recovery while Australia have lengthened slightly to 1/9 to win the series.
Should England manage an incredible fight back then their World Cup odds will shorten further and punters should look to take England’s price now as it is unlikely to get any bigger.
The fifth ODI takes place in Brisbane on Sunday and Australia are also available at 10/11 to return to winning ways.
With a 3-1 lead, Australia are 6/4 to win the series by either a 5-2 scoreline or a 4-3 scoreline, but a 6-1 win for the Aussies is priced at 5/1, as is a 4-3 win for England.
England can’t afford to lose another match if they wish to win this series, but Flower will be looking at the bigger picture and the England coach will be looking to put together his best team in the hope of challenging for the Cricket World Cup.
