Dalglish promised funds as Reds look to escape a relegation fight

Life is looking pretty cosy for Kenny Dalglish at the moment.

First he gains the backing of his star player for the permanent role of Liverpool manager and then his board promise to provide him with the funds to chase potential stars such as Ajax’s Luis Suarez.

This may seem slightly strange to many considering Dalglish is yet to win a game in charge of Liverpool, and as such, iLiverpool’s relegation odds have been cut to 16/1 from 20/1.

But 16/1 is still a great price for punters considering Newcastle (10/1), Blackburn (5/1) and Blackpool (7/2) all hold more points in the Premier League than Dalglish’s side.

Liverpool have the ninth worst attack in the Premier League so it’s understandable that the Liverpool board are willing to stump up the reported £25m it would take to lure Luis Suarez away from Ajax.

Charlie Adam and Jerome Thomas have also been linked with moves to Liverpool as Dalglish looks to lead his side away from a relegation dogfight.

None of these signings look like being completed in time for Liverpool’s trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday as Dalgish prepares his side to face a Wolves side that have won four of their last five home games.

Liverpool’s away form is shocking – just two wins in 2010, none in 2011 – and Kenny Dalglish will continue to wait for his first win in charge as punters continue to feast on the 9/4 for Wolves to win and the 9/4 for the draw.

Players are needed to strengthen a weak Liverpool squad and the Liverpool fans will be delighted that the board have decided to back Dalglish with the cash to improve.

However it remains to be seen, after so long out, if Dalglish has what it takes to keep Liverpool in the division.

A £25 stake on Liverpool getting relegated would return £425. New customers can sign up here for a free Premier League bet worth £25.
