Colin Firth slashed for Oscars glory

Colin Firth looks set to scoop the coveted Golden Globe & Oscar double according to Ladbrokes.

He is now just 1/9 to win Best Actor for his role in ‘The King’s Speech’ after obliging in the Golden Globes at 1/3.

Best Supporting Actress is the most competitive of the short-lists with Melissa Leo heading up the market for her supporting role in ‘The Fighter’ (4/6).

Her nearest challenger is Helena Bonham Carter at 5/1 in what could be another winner for ‘The King’s Speech’.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “Punters were raising a glass to Firth when he collected his Golden Globe on Sunday night. He has now been backed off the boards for the Oscars and it looks like we will be seeing him on the rostrum again.”
