Bottom-club Walsall 5/2 to heap misery on freefalling Bristol Rovers

Published:

Walsall need wins quickly if they are to avoid becoming detached at the foot of League One and odds of 5/2 seem reasonable that they leave one of their favourite hunting grounds in Bristol Rovers with the three points.

Caretaker boss Dean Smith watched his side show some grit and determination to battle back to claim a 3-3 draw away at Tranmere in his first match in charge and they can now expect to go one better against Bristol Rovers.

Walsall have won five of their last seven away games against Bristol Rovers and another victory this season will take them one point behind their opposition in the standings and just five points from safety.

Bristol Rovers have gone 11 league games without a victory, but a home game against the team bottom of the league presents the perfect opportunity to end such a run.

The League One betting odds have Bristol Rovers at 11/10 to beat Walsall, with the draw that does little to ease either side’s relegation fears priced at 23/10.

Elsewhere, Peterborough have been scoring goals for fun at home this season, but may have difficulty continuing this achievement against a Brentford team to have been thrifty on their travels.

Peterborough put seven past Brentford at London Road last season and have scored another 30 goals at the ground this year in 11 home games.

Peterborough are 1/1 to beat Brentford, with the visitors conceding just 13 goals in their 12 away games.

But Brentford have let in five in their last two away fixtures and good value may be found backing Peterborough to triumph 4-0, which is available at 40/1.

A £10 bet on Peterborough beating Brentford 4-1 could see a return of £330. New Ladbrokes customers can sign up here for a free £10 bet.
