Blackburn vs West Brom – Rovers to shade tight match

Published:

Steve Keen’s first task as permanent manager of Blackburn Rovers is to take his side to West Bromwich Albion in what could be a crunch relegation fixture.

Despite Blackburn’s new wealthy owners, an unproven manager and an unattractive club means Blackburn could easily get drawn into a relegation battle and points are needed for the Lancashire club at Ewood Park.

Match Odds

Blackburn’s 3-1 win over West Brom in December saw Blackburn score three goals from just four shots on target, and a tighter match is expected at Ewood Park, but the hosts should just shade it and Blackburn are 6/5 to beat West Brom and 7/1 to win 1-0.

West Brom, 23/10 to beat Blackburn, have only managed one victory against Blackburn in their last nine attempts and despite stopping their losing run at Blackpool last week, Blackburn are the more attractive proposition in the betting.

Red Cards

Both teams had a player sent off in the reverse meeting in December, and with no love lost between the two teams, yellow and red cards look set to be shown.

Total Goals

Corners could be the key in this match – Blackburn have a league high of eight goals from corners this season, while West Brom have conceded eight from corners, the joint-highest in the Premier League.

That leaves Arsenal target Christopher Samba a likely goalscorer and he is 7/1 to score anytime, and Peter Odemwingie continues to be West Brom’s most influential player and is 7/4 to score anytime.

It’s been 20 matches since West Brom kept a clean sheet in the Premier League and Blackburn can take advantage of the Baggies poor defence – they are 11/5 to score in both halfs

However should West Brom take the lead, Blackburn are yet to gain a point from a losing position this season.

A £10 stake on Samba scoring first and Blackburn winning 2-1 would return £1,000. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
