Bet on Fu to beat Ebdon

Published:

Peter Ebdon may have come through his opening game against third seed Ali Carter despite suffering from a virus, but things look set to catch up with him against Marco Fu this evening.

In typical Ebdon style, his 6-5 win against Carter took a little under four hours to be completed at Wembley Arena on Monday and we could be set for a similarly close game tonight.

Fu is rightly the 4/6 favourite in the snooker betting following some brilliant potting in his opening 6-4 victory against Stephen Maguire. However, the Hong Kong player showed signs of nerves as he nearly let a 5-1 lead slip.

Ebdon – the 2002 world champion – is still a force to be reckoned with, and the world No.12 could give Fu a very frustrating evening.

Fu may be more fluid around the table, but he hasn’t made it past the quarter-finals of a tournament in his last 11 attempts, a run that has seen him slip to 20 in the world rankings.

It’s ten events since Ebdon made it to a semi-final so, with neither of them playing to anywhere near their potential at the moment, it should come down to who has the nerve.

Ebdon looked to have used up every last drop of his resolve to beat Carter, while Fu showed glimpses of his best form as he made consecutive century breaks in his clash against Maguire.

Backing Fu to win at 4/6 looks to be the best bet, while you could also take advantage of a free £25 bet by backing a close game to end in a 6-4 win to Fu.

A £25 bet on Fu to win 6-0 could see a return of £725! New Ladbrokes customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
