Barcelona will avenge shock Hercules defeat in emphatic fashion

Published:

September 11 2010 was one of the most shocking days in recent La Liga history as promoted Hercules beat Barcelona 2-0 at the Camp Nou. That result failed to have the dispiriting effect on the champions that Real Madrid hoped for however, and they are 1/6 to gain revenge in Alicante.

The temptation always exists to go against Barcelona, especially with meaty odds of 13/2 available on the draw and 12/1 on Hercules completing the double, however Barcelona consistently justify the short prices on their success and the same is likely again.

Pep Guardiola’s side have won 14 league games on the spin and 11 in a row on the road, while they have incredibly scored three or more in nine of those, so back over 2.5 away goals at 4/5 and look for Pedro to open the scoring at 7/2 having netted in five successive away Liga matches.

Saturday’s second Sky Sports-televised encounter pairs Deportivo La Coruna with Sevilla and though Miguel Angel Lotina’s team have suffered five straight losses in all competitions, there’s a strong case for backing the hosts at 2/1.

Depor have only been beaten twice at home in the league all season – by Almeria and Barcelona – and while Sevilla have four travelling triumphs to their name, three have come against bottom-five clubs.

They haven’t tasted defeat in any of their last three meetings with the Rojiblancos and have kept clean sheets in three of the last five collisions, while five of the last seven have had under 1.5 goals.

Those statistics lend themselves to three bets: the Deportivo clean sheet at 11/4, under 1.5 goals at 2/1 and 1-0 Depor at 7/1.

A £25 stake on the home side winning 1-0 would provide a £70 profit. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
