Back Chelsea to beat Blackburn

Frank Lampard has admitted Chelsea are suffering from a huge lack of confidence – but is convinced it’s only a matter of time before they rediscover their swagger.

Chelsea made a good start last week against Ipswich, beating the Tractor Boys 7-0 in the FA Cup, and should come out on top against Blackburn Rovers at 2/7.

Despite that hammering of Ipswich – who later went on to beat Arsenal in the Carling Cup – Lampard admits the Blues are going through a difficult period.

He said: “We need to work in the same direction, follow the manager and, if we do, I believe it will turn. If we don’t, it won’t.

“This is a bad moment, make no mistake about it. We don’t have to hide it any more. It’s been a long enough time.”

However, they should comfortably get their Premier League campaign back on track against Rovers.

Despite Rovers beating Liverpool and QPR in the past fortnight, they will struggle in west London. Blackburn haven’t so much as scored a goal at Stamford Bridge since 2005 and haven’t won away to Chelsea during the Roman Abramovich era.

Their last visit to Stamford Bridge ended in a 5-0 hammering, so backing Chelsea – who have scored ten goals in their last two home games – to score over 2.5 goals at 11/10 looks well worth a bet.

With the likes of the rather agricultural Christopher Samba playing at the back for Rovers, betting on Chelsea penalty taker, Frank Lampard, to score at anytime at 6/4 could also be worth backing.
