World No.2 James Wade will have no problems against Alcinas

James Wade has enjoyed a brilliant year on the PDC Tour and it looks set to get even better at Alexandra Palace over the next few weeks.

Wade is 8/1 to win his first Ladbrokes.com World Darts title and his opening round game should be a formality for the world No.2.

The only real blot on Wade’s copy book recently was his first round exit at the World Cup of Darts, where he and partner Phil Taylor were unceremoniously dumped out in the first round by Spaniards Antonio Alcinas and Carlos Rodriguez.

Wade has the chance to exact some swift revenge against Alcinas tonight and should comfortably sweep him aside at 1/8. However, after his world cup upset, Wade is taking nothing for granted.

He said: “Antonio’s a new face in the World Championship but I’ve seen him a fair bit on the circuit this year and know firsthand just how good he is.

“I know he’ll be a really tough opponent and it’s a challenge for me, but I’ve been practising hard since the World Cup and I’ll be ready for him.”

As the odds reflect, it should be a straightforward victory for Wade, so better value lies in backing the score rather than the result. Backing James Wade to comfortably make it through to the next round with a 3-0 whitewash is a very tempting evens in the Ladbrokes darts betting.

Finally, Denis ‘The Heat’ Ovens takes on the winner of the evening’s preliminary game between Jyhan Artut and Scott Mackenzie. Whoever he has to face, he should easily come out on top.

A £10 bet on James Wade to win 3-2 pays out £55. New Ladbrokes customers can sign up here for a free £10 bet.
