Trainer backs Khan to win every round in Las Vegas on Sunday

Freddie Roach has trained some of the biggest names in boxing and when he talks, people listen.

With Amir Khan set for a potential career-defining fight with Marcos Maidana in Las Vegas on Sunday, Roach (Khan’s trainer) believes his fighter will win every round with the Argentino and Khan is 4/11 to win the fight.

Since his first round loss to Breidis Prescott as a lightweight in September 2006, questions have hung over Khan’s ability to take a punch and the hard-hitting Maidana provides Khan with his toughest defensive task since the Prescott fight.

But since moving to Freddie Roach’s gym after the Prescott fight, Khan’s defence has improved enormously and Khan is unbeaten since his step up to light welterweight.

Meticulous in his approach, Roach will have prepared Khan perfectly for a fight against a type of opponent that Khan has historically struggled with, which means the outcome of the fight will all come down to Khan’s ability in the ring.

Should Maidana break the Khan defence, and the Argentine who has suffered just one loss in 29 fights is more than capable of doing so, Khan will have to prove that he has the chin for professional boxing.

Maidana is 5/2 to win by knock out, technical knock-out or disqualification and should the Argentinian floor Khan, the Briton will find many questioning his ability to handle professional boxing.

But Khan proved his ability to handle the pressure when stopping Paulie Malignaggi in his home town of New York in May earlier this year and Khan is 5/4 to win by KO, TKO or disqualification.

However with Roach suggesting that Khan will win every round, it seems that the trainer has prepared his fighter for the fight to go the distance and Khan is 2/1 to win by decision or technical decision.

A £10 stake on Khan winning in the 11th round would return £190. New customers can sign up here for a free £10 bet.
