Schweinsteiger states case why Bayern are better than Dortmund

Despite the Bundesliga table showing completely the opposite, Bastian Schweinsteiger feels that Bayern Munich are a better team than Borussia Dortmund.

Dortmund are undoubtedly the surprise package in the Bundesliga and have built a ten-point lead at the head of the standings thanks to winning 13 of their 15 league games to date.

This impressive form has seen them made heavy favourites in the Bundesliga betting odds at 1/5 to win their first title since 2002.

While Dortmund have been enjoying their dominant streak, Bayern have been struggling to keep on terms and currently are down in seventh with 17 points to make up.

Yet despite this, Bayern midfielder Schweinsteiger believes that it is his team that are still superior, even if the results do not suggest this.

According to Europsport, he said: “I’m still of the opinion that Bayern Munich are better than Borussia Dortmund. I haven’t seen a single team this season that was really better than us.

“They have a lot of qualities. They have a very aggressive style of play and always do a lot of running. They’ve so far managed to win even their bad games, while we were often held to a draw. They’ve already had their fair share of luck.”

Bayern’s betting odds are 11/2 to win the Bundesliga and if they are to stand any chance of catching Dortmund, a significant improvement is especially required in their away form.

Louis van Gaal’s team have won just one of their seven Bundesliga away games, while they have scored six goals on their travels, in comparison to 17 in their eight fixtures at the Allianz Arena.
