QPR stay odds-on to win Championship after Cardiff draw

It took a last minute goal from Andy Keogh to save Cardiff’s blushes against bottom of the league Preston North End.

With Queens Park Rangers not playing because of the weather, Cardiff failed to turn up the heat on the Championship leaders and instead find their arch-rivals Swansea just a point behind them.

Cardiff are now 7/2 to win the Championship after picking up just five points from a possible 18 in their last six games, and manager Dave Jones must transform his side’s fortunes if they are to be in the running to win the league heading into the new year.

Cardiff face Middlesbrough and Watford away with home ties against Burnley and Coventry City sandwiched in between over a tricky Christmas period for the South Wales side.

But the other South Wales side are in confident spirits and manager Brendan Rogers will have been happy to see his side come from behind against Ipswich on Saturday.

Swansea are 10/1 to win the Championship but sit just a point off Cardiff and have an easier Christmas campaign even if they do face QPR in London on Boxing Day.

An away trip to Sheffield United is sandwiched in between home ties with Millwall and Barnsley before the turn of the new year, and Rodgers will be confident of taking at least nine points from his next 12 games.

At the moment, Swansea look the better of the two South Wales teams and it would be no surprise to see them above their rivals in the Championship heading into the new year.

But QPR are four points ahead of Cardiff at the top of the Championship and at 4/5 in the Championship betting odds, it’s difficult to oppose Neil Warnock’s side winning the league.

A £10 stake on Swansea to win the Championship would return £110. New customers can sign up here for a free £10 bet.
