Phil Taylor will cruise through at the world championships

Phil Taylor is determined not to take his Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship second round game too lightly.

‘The Power’ faces Dane, Per Laursen, as he looks to defend his title and claim his 16th world title. Taylor is huge favourite in the Ladbrokes darts betting at 1/33.

Despite Taylor being such a big favourite, Taylor will remain as professional as ever against a player who produced a shock 3-0 win over former world champion John Part in the first round.

Taylor said: “”I don’t know anything about Per, so it’ll be a case of heading into the unknown.

“That said, you’ve got to be a good player to beat John, so I know it’ll be tough.”

Taylor is expected to win this clash so easily that a 4-0 whitewash for the world No.1 is odds on at 4/6. However, Taylor was far from his brilliant best in his opening victory over Gary Mawson so better value lies in backing a 4-1 victory at 9/4.

Meanwhile, Colin Lloyd faces a tricky second round game against Mark Hylton. Lloyd was less than convincing in his opening 3-2 victory over Andree Welge despite a huge gulf in class and experience.

He survived that encounter though and should comfortably make it through to the third round at 1/3.

A £10 bet on Colin Lloyd to win 4-0 pays out £50. New Ladbrokes customers can sign up here for a free £10 bet.
