No voice leaves Matt battling to make X Factor semi finals

There are huge doubts whether Matt Cardle will be able to sing in the X Factor semi finals after he was unable to perform at a secret official gig.

Matt is the 8/11 favourite to win the X Factor, but could barely speak, let alone sing, at the concert in London for winners of a TalkTalk competition.

He said: “Everything has been feeling poorly recently. I was recording earlier and it was getting very painful, so I can’t sing tonight.

“I just have to hope it gets better for the weekend. There is not much else I can do.”

If Matt does recover from his lost voice enough to perform in the semi finals, he may not be particularly pleased by the fact that he will have to sing two songs.

The problem is also not the first of the series for Matt, as he was unable to perform the Leona Lewis hit ‘Bleeding Love’ to the best of his ability during a previous live show because throat troubles prevented him hitting the high notes.

Meanwhile, even if Matt does not sing to his full potential, it is likely that he has built up a big enough fanbase already to reach the final.

He is the outsider of the five remaining acts in the X Factor betting odds to be the 12th elimination at 33/1, with Mary Byrne largely expected to be the next out voted out at 4/5.

Those who believe Matt will end up as the winner may also want to look at the X Factor specials market for other betting opportunities.

These include the 2/1 on offer that Matt wins and One Direction finish second, while it is 5/2 that Matt is crowned X Factor winner and Rebecca Ferguson finishes second.

A £10 bet on One Direction winning and Matt taking second would return £45. New Ladbrokes customers can sign up here for a free £10 bet.
