Mancini will let Tevez plead his case before deciding on captaincy

Roberto Mancini will meet with Carlos Tevez before deciding on whether to strip him of the Manchester United captaincy.

The former Manchester United player was given the arm band in the summer and seemed to thrive under the pressure – scoring ten goals in the league already this season.

The Argentinean has reported back for training this morning at Carrington following a spa break in Italy. He will not be playing against Juventus in their final Europa League group stage game on Thursday evening , with the Citizens already through to the knockout stages.

City are 2/1 to win that game in Turin, despite Mancini only meeting up with the team in Italy following minor eye surgery this week.

That surgery means the Italian is unlikely to meet with Tevez to discuss his future before Friday when he returns to England.

It’s looking increasingly unlikely that Tevez will remain as captain following mixed messages coming from him and his agent, Kia Joorabchian – first he wants to move to Argentina to be with his children and then he’s decides he’s fallen out with “certain executives.” It’s all very confusing.

There have been rumours that Tevez is angling for a move to Spain in the hope of convincing his estranged partner to move there with his daughters, while Chelsea are also thought to be interested in snapping him up with both Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka the wrong side of 30-years-old.
