Liverpool vs Utrecht – Hodgson has unbeaten record to maintain

Published:

Liverpool are unbeaten in European competition under Roy Hodgson and there is no reason to suggest that this will come to an end as they prepare to host FC Utrecht.

Hodgson has avoided defeat in all nine of Liverpool’s European games this season and they are already assured to qualify for the last 32 of the Europe League from Group K as group winners.

Liverpool’s betting odds are 4/9 to beat Utrecht and maintain their 100 per cent winning record at Anfield in the competition thus far this season.

In fact, Liverpool have won their last eight European fixtures at Anfield in all competitions.

Also in Liverpool’s favour is that they have never lost at home to Dutch opposition with five wins from six games, while Utrecht have little to play for as they cannot finish any better than third in the group.

Utrecht are 6/1 in the Europa League betting odds to beat Liverpool and collect their first victory in Group K.

There is far more to play for in the other group showdown as Napoli and Steaua Bucharest battle for the second qualification spot.

Steaua are currently in the driving seat, but a win for Napoli on home soil would see them move above the Romanians in the standings.

Napoli are yet to win in the group but are 4/9 to claim victory against Steaua.

Steaua will be kicking themselves if they fail to qualify as they threw away a 3-0 lead in the first meeting between the two in Romanian, as Edinson Cavani scored a 98th minute equaliser for Napoli.

Meanwhile, Steaua have never beaten Italian opposition and it is 15/2 that this run comes to an end, with the draw priced at 10/3.

A £10 bet on the scorecast of Ryan Babel scoring first and Liverpool winning 2-0 could see a return of £160. New Ladbrokes customers can sign up here for a free £10 bet.
