King will make Alexandra Palace his own with easy win

He’s never been one to shirk controversy and this Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship is no different for Mervyn King.

The world No.6 is 1/5 to see off Andy Smith in his second round match and should comfortably sweep into the next round.

‘The King’ had a comfortable 3-0 win against Magnus Caris last week but – as per usual with King – things haven’t been quite so smooth off the oche, with the Englishman criticising the boisterous Alexandra Palace crowd.

He said: “I’m up there to do a job, I’m not there to have a jolly with the crowd.

“The actual darts fans are fine, it’s the others that turn up and get drunk and show no respect to anybody or anything in the venue – they’re turning up with a football crowd mentality.”

Even if the crowd do turn against King – as they did in his Grand Slam of Darts game against John Henderson earlier this year – backing him to win 4-0 at 11/4 looks to be well worth a punt.

Meanwhile, this afternoon also sees Gary Anderson take on Dennis Priestly.

The Scot has the highest three dart average in the tournament so far at 103.26 and should sweep aside Priestly at 1/7. For more value, back him to also complete the whitewash at a very tidy 2/1.

A £10 bet on King to win 4-2 pays out £30. New Ladbrokes customers can sign up here for a free £10 bet.
