France unworthy underdogs in Davis Cup betting market
France may be the underdogs in the Davis Cup tennis betting, but they are arguably the team to beat as they prepare to face Serbia in the final.
Led by Gael Monfils, France have breezed through the three rounds of the World Group to make the final, losing only one individual game in their victories over Germany, Spain and Argentina.
This defeat came against Germany and was only because Jo-Wilfried Tsonga was forced to retire from his singles rubber.
The victory over Spain could be especially significant, as they have won the Davis Cup for the last two years.
Based on these facts, France may prove a wise bet at 7/4 in the Davis Cup betting and win the tournament for the tenth time in their history.
France captain Guy Forget will be hoping that Monfils continues to produce the goods as he has kicked off each round so far with a victory and he can do so again when he faces Jarko Tipsarevic in the first singles rubber.
Serbia have never reached the final of the Davis Cup before, let alone won the team event, but will be hoping that home advantage will give them the extra incentive they need to beat France.
They will also be hoping that the inclusion of world number three Novak Djokovic will guarantee them two of the three points they will need to lift the trophy.
Serbia are 2/5 to win in the Davis Cup tennis odds and much could come down to the doubles clash pitting France’s Arnaud Clement and Michael Llodra against Nenad Zimonjic and Viktor Troicki.
Gilles Simon clinched the fourth spot in the French team for the Davis Cup and will join Monfils in the singles, meaning that the likes of Tsonga and Julien Benneteau, who both helped France reached the final, have not been selected.
A number of betting opportunities will be available for the Davis Cup, as there are for all tennis events. New Ladbrokes customers can sign up here for a free £10 bet.
