England backed to win third test

Published:

England have been backed heavily by Ladbrokes customers on the eve of the 3rd Ashes test and are currently 11/8 to triumph – they are now just 2/5 to win the Ashes.

A much changed Australian side are 7/4 to win and also currently trade at 5/1 to come from behind to win the series.

It’s 7/2 that the series ends in a draw, which would be enough for England to retain the urn, hence the price of 1/9 that it comes home safely.

After a polished bowling performance in the last test, Graeme Swann is 8/1 to be the man of the match.

He is also 8/1 to win this Sunday’s BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “Patriotic punters think that the end is in sight. A win here guarantees the return of the Ashes which would have been enough before the series but now both punters and players alike smell blood.”
