Dortmund tighten grip on Bundesliga title with another win

After just 16 games of the Bundesliga season, it looks as though the title race has already been settled.

While last season’s champions Bayern Munich have faltered time and time again, there have been no such slip ups for leaders Borussia Dortmund.

Dortmund – who last won the title in 2002 – are 11 points clear of second place Bayer Leverkusen and look set to comfortably stay there until the end of the season at an amazingly short 2/11.

The shortness of the odds is hardly surprising, given their incredible season so far.

Their surge to a double digit lead has come thanks to a run of 15 games without defeat in the German top tier. They haven’t lost since their opening day defeat to Bayer Leverkusen, winning 14 and drawing one of their games since then.

Shinji Kagawa and Lucas Barrios have both been in fine goal scoring form, bagging eight goals apiece and, as well as boasting the best attack in the league, they also have the best defensive record – averaging just 0.56 goals a game conceded.

That’s proved to be an almost unbeatable combination this season, and it’s hard to see anyone catching them.

Leverkusen are 6/1 to cause a massive upset and catch the runaway leaders, while Bayern Munich are at the same price – despite being 17 points behind in sixth place.
