Dickov looking forward to a bright future with Oldham

Paul Dickov is convinced his young side’s charge to the play-off places is just the start of things at Oldham Athletic.

The Boundary Park side – who are 11/8 to beat Walsall this weekend –have now gone four games without defeat and are currently sitting pretty in sixth spot.

Despite their lofty position, Dickov believes his young side – including 23-year-old midfielder Chris Taylor who has already scored five goals this season – can only get better.

“I think what people have got to realise is we’re delighted where we’re at.

“We’ve got a very young team and as much as we’re doing well at the minute it also bodes well for the future.

“The future is bright if you look at the longer term and at the bigger picture. The performances the lads are giving us at the moment are magnificent.

“Somebody said to me are we punching above our weight at the minute but I don’t think so. These lads are young but I think we’re getting better and better all the time.”

Oldham make the short trip south to face Walsall this Saturday – weather depending – and are favourites at 11/8 to see off the Saddlers.

With Walsall failing to score in their last two games, backing Oldham to continue their brilliant form with another win could certainly be worth a bet.
