Del Neri considering Poli reunion at Juventus to help in Serie A title bid

It seems that Antonio Cassano may not be the only player close to leaving Sampdoria, as Juventus appear set to table a bid for Andrea Poli.

Poli broke through at Sampdoria under current Juventus boss Luigi Del Neri, but has struggled to hold down a place in the first team at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris during the current campaign.

Sampdoria manager Domenico di Carlo may be content to let the highly-rated 21-year-old leave for the right price and Juventus may see Poli as a useful addition to their squad as they look to win Serie A.

Juventus are currently fourth in the standings, five points adrift of leaders AC Milan, but are second favourites in the Serie A betting to win the title for the first time since 2003 at 4/1.

Their chances may be supported by the fact that they are unbeaten in 18 games in all competitions, while in Fabio Quagliarella they have one of the form strikers in the Italian top flight.

Poli may struggle to make an immediate breakthrough at Juventus, with Milos Krasic, Felipe Melo, Claudio Marchisio and Alberto Aquilani starring in the Juventus midfield.

However, with Mohamed Sissoko likely to move in January in order to get more starting opportunities, Poli could prove the ideal replacement in the squad.

The arrival of Poli could be just one new face at the Old Lady in the new year, with Del Neri also considering strengthening in other areas of the pitch.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is one striker that has been linked with a move to Turin from Bundesliga side Schalke, while Liverpool’s Glen Johnson has been highlighted in some quarters as Juventus’ number one target.
