Christina Aguilera duet could ensure Matt’s X Factor victory

Matt Cardle’s chances of winning the X Factor could be substantially boosted if he is given the chance to duet with Christina Aguilera as one of his performances to make up the final of the talent show.

It seems almost certain that Christina, Robbie Williams, Rihanna and Will.I.Am will perform with the four remaining acts in the final, but it is currently hanging in the balance which superstar will sing alongside which contestant.

The obvious pairing would be Will.I.Am with Cher Lloyd, with one reason being the Black Eyed Peas singer’s close relationship with Cher’ mentor Cheryl Cole and that the two are the most similar with their musical tastes.

Meanwhile, rumours suggest that Matt could be the favourite to perform with Robbie, who is appearing in the final for the second straight year following his duet with eventual runner-up Olly Murs 12 months ago.

However, Matt’s mentor Dannii Minogue would seemingly much prefer a duet with Christina as she feels it could do more to enhance his chances of winning the X Factor, for which he is the 4/5 favourite at present.

An X Factor inside has stated: “A duet between Christina and Matt would be a magical moment – just like when Beyonce dueted with Alexandra Burke during 2008’s final.

“Matt’s voice is phenomenal and Christina can hit notes no one has dreamed of. They would be a perfect pairing no matter what song they sang.”

One Direction covered the Rihanna hit ‘Only Girl In The World’ during the semi finals and there are also strong rumours that this is a likely partnership.

The X Factor betting odds have One Direction at 5/2 to become the first group to win the show, while Rebecca Ferguson can be backed at 10/3.
