Barnet manager in a desperate search for the elusive away win

Should the League Two table take into account only home wins, Barnet would currently be sitting pretty in 11th place.

But the Bees awful away form means the club are languishing in the relegation zone after taking just two points from a possible 27.

After throwing away a 1-0 lead at Oxford last Saturday, Bees manager Mark Stimson admits the poor away form is getting him down and he is frantically searching for a way to end the barren run.

“It’s a pity we couldn’t capitalise,” said Stimson. “The longer it goes on, the worse it gets.”

Two points adrift of safety, Barnet face a home tie with Accrington Stanley this week and considering they’ve beaten Cheltenham Town, Hereford United, Macclesfield Town and Northampton Town at home this season, the Bees can be confident of victory.

There are eight places and five points separating the two teams, but Barnet will head into the game the 7/5 favourites and Stimson’s side offer plenty of value.

But following the Accrington game, Barnet make two away trips to league leaders Port Vale, and then Southend United.

The Christmas period shapes a clubs season and Stimson knows his side need to take something against Southend if they are to avoid the drop.

With a winnable game at home to Stockport County before the turn of the year, Stimson will be targeting seven points from a possible 12, and should Barnet achieve that target, they will be in a strong position to avoid the drop.

But no wins away from home all season is a horrible burden to carry and Barnet face a tough task to end the barren run.
