Anderson returns for England with the freshness to take wickets

James Anderson is none the worse for his recent trip round the world to see the birth of his second child and is fully fresh to lead the England attack in the third Test against Australia.

Anderson can be backed at 6/1 to take five wickets in the first innings at the WACA as England look to move 2-0 ahead in the series with just two tests remaining.

England will be relying on their most experienced pace bowler to produce the goods with Stuart Broad injured and he has indicated that his excursions have actually done more good than harm.

He said: “I didn’t try to acclimatise back to English conditions, just tried to stay on Australian time. I didn’t get into a sleep routine in England. I think I’ve done that well.

“I feel fresh, and probably happy for the rest from bowling after a tough first two Tests.”

Anderson has taken eight wickets across the opening two Test matches and his four victims in Australia’s first innings in the most recent at Adelaide proved a springboard to England taking the series imitative.

Based on this and Anderson’s ability when it comes to swinging the new ball, one of the best third Test betting opportunities may be the 1/1 offered that he takes at least three wickets in the Australian first innings.

This could be more likely based on the fact that he has removed Australian opener Shane Watson in the first innings of both Tests so far.

Meanwhile, despite England only winning one of their 11 Ashes Tests against Australia at the WACA, Andrew Strauss’ team are slight favourites at 6/4 to secure victory.

Australia have been poor in the series so far, but some changes to their line-up could provide some much needed confidence and they are 7/4 to restore parity in the series at 1-1.
