Wagner is the new favourite to be ninth X Factor elimination

Published:

Wagner’s unexpected lengthy stay on the X Factor may be close to ending after a disappointing performance during Beatles week.

Louis Walsh’s act has built up a strong internet following and despite arguably being the worst act among the 16 to reach the live shows, he has continued to surprise on a weekly basis.

However, his luck may have finally run out and he has moved from 5/2 to 5/4 to be the ninth act voted off the X Factor.

Wagner’s popularity with the public may have also taken a hit by a statement he made about Cheryl Cole’s upbringing and reports that he claims incapacity benefit for an injured shoulder, despite moving freely enough during his up-tempo performances.

Although Wagner’s medley of ‘Get Back’, ‘Hippy Hippy Shake’ and ‘Hey Jude’ was no worse than any of the performances he had produced across the rest of the live shows, his fellow favourites for elimination appeared to up their game.

While Wagner struggled to sing in tune and keep up with the backing track, Katie Waissel and Paije Richardson produced far stronger displays.

Katie brought a new image to the show and put plenty of emotion into her rendition of ‘Help!’ and as a result saw her price to be eliminated drift from 5/6 to 2/1.

Meanwhile, Paije had one of the toughest challenges with ‘Let It Be’ and could have easily seen his chances of being eliminated increase with a below-par performance.

He did the song some degree of justice and is 7/2 to be the next contestant ousted.

The other problem facing Wagner is that he is almost certain to be voted out by the judges if he finishes in the bottom two of the public vote and this is perhaps the most likely week yet of this occurring.
